Bell 206L-3 crash near Lake Michaelson, Kenya

A Titan Air Bell 206L-3 LongRanger III (5Y-TOR, manufactured 1989) chartered for a promotional trip for travel agents crashed into Lake Michaelson on Mount Kenya at approximately 08:45. During takeoff the pilot felt lift decrease as the wind changed direction. He turned toward land but the right skid struck the water, causing the helicopter to dive and flip onto its back underwater. The pilot escaped through the broken front windscreen. Two passengers also exited and swam to safety. The third passenger remained trapped and drowned.
