Summary

A Kenya Administration Police Bell 407 (5Y-RDU, manufactured 2011) took off from Ukunda Airstrip at approximately 19:00 on a security surveillance flight to Moi International Airport with pilot and two passengers. Five minutes into the flight, the engine oil pressure gauge indicated low pressure. The pilot executed a precautionary landing on open hard ground. The aircraft suffered substantial damage on impact: the tail boom separated from the fuselage, the skids splayed outwards, and the belly contacted the ground. All three occupants suffered minor injuries and were hospitalised overnight.
